The Chicago Justice Project is conducting research into a level of private security authorized in Washington, DC to not only carry guns but are also empowered with significant policing powers that include arrest and pursuit powers. This level of private security is called special police. As part of our ongoing research into the special police, we want to learn about any negative interactions community members throughout Washington, DC have had with the special police. The stories we collect here will be used to support a white paper the Chicago Justice Project will be producing on the special police and any subsequent transparency and accountability advocacy work that follows.
